Ochres are found in a small corner of the Luberon, between the villages of Roussillon ans Rustrel. The extraordinary range of hues of the oxidised earth, from pale yellow to bright red, was used to make the natural pigments in the lime coatings applied on the brightly coloured houses of the area.

The trip includes :

   - A drive through the most beautiful perched villages of Venasques and Gordes

   - A walk through the quarries of Roussillon

   - After a picnic we will visit the Conservatoire des Ocres, an institution devoted to the history of 
     this natural heritage.
